We are all aware of the dangers of hypertension and that high blood pressure puts an incredible strain on the heart. Recent European research however has found that abnormally high hypertension can also have negative effects on the brain and many of the unhealthy habits we have on a daily basis can actually harm brain development and overall brain performance but that this hypertension can be reduced by using effective memory supplement formulas with other strategies to reduce stress.

French researchers tracked thousands of adult volunteers in a 10 year study and have found that those who had typical cardio vascular risk factors like high blood pressure or high levels of cholesterol were more likely to lose their memory earlier and at a faster rate.
This study comes on the back of a seperate small animals resaerch project (which i talked about in my blog entry of April 18th 2011) conducted in Scotland which made the connection between stress and memory loss.
The exact link between hypertension and loss of memory is not clear but cardiologists are no surprised and attribute this connection to an inflammation or irritation of the lining of many of the arteries to the heart and to the head.
The French researchers estimate high cholesterol and high blood pressure, smoking or being overweight gave an individual a 20% chance of suffering memory loss over time and while this may not seem a large percentage and worth the risk , but imagine if it really happens to you or someone close to you ,how would you cope . then it becomes significant and life changing. The problem is likely to grow with the ageing baby boomer population which means we must learn to take care of the body now to protect the brain for later.
The advice is surprisingly simple:
- Don’t smoke
- Drink alcohol in moderation -stay within recommended guidelines
- Stay at a healthy weight
- Cut out sugar
- Try to eat less processed food
- Augment your diet with appropriate memory vitamins found in reputable memory supplement formulas
- Exercise often and with gusto
- Take the correct memory supplement preferably one containing Acetyl L Carnatine and L-Methionine
- Eat vegetables and fruit that contain known memory vitamins like B3 B5 and Folic Acid (B9) .
